Alex and I delivered a talk on a career in marketing to the Y12s at Holmer Green Senior School last week. Naomi Rogers kindly invited us to share some of our experiences and give advice to the students on what a role in marketing involves and how best to go about securing one. Kids have had a really tough time of it these past 15 months, so it was really rewarding to be able to inspire some of the marketers of the future.
We provided a brief introduction to what marketing is, talked about what a marketer does each day at work, shared some great examples of marketing, talked through the qualifications needed (spoiler – it’s about attitude and loving brands, not about what you study) and ended on a high with advice about the role of marketing in doing good in the world.
